Pony Confessions

There has always been something that has bothered me about “Suited For Success”. If Fluttershy secretly knows so much about fashion, why did the dress she had Rarity design turn out to be a disaster? Shouldn’t the dress have come out beautifully if Rarity was making all the dresses to the girls’ exact specifications?

I got into the fandom through fanfiction and I always thought Rarity’s hair was blonde until I saw the show.
I still imagine her with blonde hair when not watching the show.

I honestly couldn’t find anything to like about many of the characters at first, like Rarity, Zecora, the CMC, and now, with the release of season three, King Sombra, but over time they really grew on me.

Rarity & Applejack is my favorite OTP.

I sometimes wish when I see the way Rarity and Sweetie Belle interact that I had younger sibling to.

Everything I thought I’d hate about the show have been features I’ve ended up loving. Some examples being: Rarity, since shes the fussiest, prissiest pony I thought she’d annoy me, she’s now my favourite character in the show. The Cutie Mark Crusaders, I’m not usually a fan of kids so I couldn’t see myself liking them, however I now always look forward to their episodes. The songs, the idea of technicolour ponies singing about love and friendship was enough to turn my stomach, however now I find myself humming the songs all day long. Terms like ‘Everypony’ and ‘Somepony’, it’s understandable to think these terms would wear thin very quickly. However I know love them, they really add some originality to the show (not that it really needs anymore than it has) and I’ve had to stop myself saying them in front of my mates. Finally, Derpy. I used to dislike Derpy, however recently, and I’m talking mere weeks ago, I came to realise that it is remarkable how the fandom has fleshed her character out without any help from the show. She’s sort of our symbol, and I can’t help but love her because of them.

The sheer amount of shipping in the fandom annoys me to no end. I mean, I get that shipping exists, and that doesn’t bother me. It’s that two ponies look at each other and half the fans go “It’s canon!”

I saw a post after Magic Duel with a picture of Applejack comforting Rarity in that pink blanket after Trixie gave her the wrong color outfit and forced a major breakdown, and the tagline was something to the effect of “The Hub’s giving us so much RariJack today!” They were on screen for two seconds and nothing remotely romantic happened in that time. That does not make them a canon ship.

So make your pairings, celebrate them, draw them, write about them, but don’t try to tell me Lyra and Bon-Bon is a canon ship, because the only truly canon ships in the show are Shining Armor-Cadence, Mr. and Mrs. Cake, and Twilight’s, Rarity’s and Pinkie Pie’s parents. No one else has been established as a couple.
