I get upset when some people put an age limit on being a fan of the show or even a brony. Back in April, I tried to introduce my ten-year-old sister to the show and the fandom. Despite her being within the target age group, she was skeptical of the show and laughed at how childish the idea was. Now she loves the show with all her heart. She knows quite a bit about the fandom, has read many fanfics, has seen and drawn her own fanart, and loves many of the songs within the fandom. She even knows many of the background ponies (her favorites are Lyra, Lightning Bolt, Candy Mane, and, of course, Derpy.) I think she’s a fantastic example of how someone can be young and still a contributing member of a group - she doesn’t need to be shunned just because she’s not “old enough.”
I desperately want to show Lyra that humans aren’t horrible destructive ecopathic sadists, and I think the best way to start would be a dinner date.
I can’t stand people who say a background pony is the best/worst pony. It makes some sense for
Derpy, but the other background ponies like Lyra or Octavia have had no lines and no canon personality whatsoever. You shouldn’t make such absolute judgements based on appearances alone. How would you like it if someone took one glimpse at you and decided you were the best or worst example of a human being?
25/2/12 The shipping of Lyra and Bon Bon and the music and stories about them has made me feel better about myself being in a lesbian relationship.
I honestly prefer the fanon characterizations of the background ponies like Lyra and Derpy to the canon characters. 2/23/12
I think Hasbro should make Lyra/Bon Bon canon to teach tolerance toward the LGBT community. 2/19/2012
