I have never been a fan of shipping. But Lyra and BonBon are my OTP. They are just too perfect together. I reject the total bitch that canon BonBon is and replace her as this loving housewife figure who loves Lyra, her lover and best friend and helps Lyra through crippling depression, and as BonBon is there for Lyra, all is bright and beautiful and Lyra is alright and thinks of BonBon as she plays beautiful music on her harp.
How many background ponies must there be, with no spoken lines? Over two hundred, maybe? But the fans only really care about six, really. Derpy, Bon-Bon, Lyra, the Doctor, Octavia and Vinyl Scratch. What about all those other ponies? Are they not worthy? What makes some ponies more special than others?
I honestly cannot stand it whenever references to the fandom are made in the show. For example, Lyra and Bon Bon’s friendship, the names given to several different background ponies, and especially Derpy. If you ask me, it’s just slight ass kissing and pandering.
Knowing that the animation team is aware of Lyra/Bon Bon and is OKAY with it, making more and more little nods to it being canon, just makes me so happy. No matter how you feel about ponyshipping, I think anyone with a soul can agree that it’s very important for the clueless, bigoted parents of America raising hell about how the gays are confusing their children to see that a healthy homosexual relationship is not threatening to the sensitivity of their precious little angels.
The sheer amount of shipping in the fandom annoys me to no end. I mean, I get that shipping exists, and that doesn’t bother me. It’s that two ponies look at each other and half the fans go “It’s canon!”
I saw a post after Magic Duel with a picture of Applejack comforting Rarity in that pink blanket after Trixie gave her the wrong color outfit and forced a major breakdown, and the tagline was something to the effect of “The Hub’s giving us so much RariJack today!” They were on screen for two seconds and nothing remotely romantic happened in that time. That does not make them a canon ship.
So make your pairings, celebrate them, draw them, write about them, but don’t try to tell me Lyra and Bon-Bon is a canon ship, because the only truly canon ships in the show are Shining Armor-Cadence, Mr. and Mrs. Cake, and Twilight’s, Rarity’s and Pinkie Pie’s parents. No one else has been established as a couple.

I dislike Lyra’s headcanon of being a human enthusiast, it kind of bugs me. I believe Rarity is pretty much more human like than Lyra, really. For example, Rarity actually said “on the other hand” once, she was the only one who was concerned about Spike coming in while they were getting dressed, she didn’t know what ponies emotionally wallow in and she was the only one who knew that ponies could pull their carriage to the gala. Lyra only sat on the bench funny for a couple of seconds in one episode and that is it. I actually found a pic once comparing the two mares’ actions and I come to agree.
No, I don’t like Trixie, or Fluttershy, or Woona. No, I don’t ship Dr. WhoovesxDerpy or BonBonxLyra or SpikexRarity. Nope, I don’t hate older gens or Gilda. I don’t think that Vinyl Scratch’s eyes are red (they’re magenta, damnit) or that Dinky is Derpy’s daughter (give me a proof, okay?). And I don’t give a damn about FluttershyxBigMac ship, it’s unrealistic anyway
To sum it up. Stop shoving down our throats all your mainstream stuff! I don’t hate but I don’t support it either. There is nothing bad with liking it but some people don’t think like the majority of fans. And it’s ok too
Even though my best friend, and most of the fandom love them, I can’t stand Lyra and BonBon. I hate how they get so many bullcrap theories/stories from the fandom, like how Lyra is obsessed with human hands or whatever, because it’s not like we even know if they’ve ever SEEN humans! I don’t mind the lesbian relationship part or whatever with that, that thw fandom sees them as, but seriously…
